Datacenter
Little Oak's servers are housed in the SteadFast Networks data center in Chicago, Illinois. The SteadFast Networks data center, located in the Lakeside Technology Center, was chosen for its high network connectivity, redundant power grids, and security. Little Oak's remote backup servers are in the SteadFast Networks datacenter, or in a high security datacenter in New York, NY.
Server Hardware
Little Oak uses Intel dual or quad core processors in all servers. Each server is set up with a redundant hardware RAID. Nightly backups are made to both local and remote backup servers (Chicago and New York).
Server Software
All servers run CentOS 4 or 5, Apache 2.2+, PHP 5, and the latest distribution of Ruby on Rails.
Standard hosting servers use the DirectAdmin control panel. Virtual private servers may use either the DirectAdmin control panel, or cPanel depending on a client's request.
Little Oak updates all software regularly. Critical security patches will be installed as soon as they become available. All non-essential software will be installed within days of its release to prevent interruptions of service.
